Lutron in Paris. Flawless light, silent shades.
Good engineering doesn't call attention to itself. You only notice it when it's missing.
- Hembar-Aligned Shading at 35 dBA
- Processor-Local Control, Network Optional
- Tested Lamp and Driver Pairings
- Light, Shading & Keypads From One Maker
One window, several panels, one line
A wider shade has a larger roll, so an ordinary motor runs it ahead. Here both descend alike and arrive together — at 35 dBA, measured 0.91 m from the drive.
The house does not depend on the network
The processor is wired straight to the keypads, the dimmers and the shades. The internet is one optional spoke beside the thermostat, the doorbell and the alarm — and Lutron's whitepaper states that its systems can operate independently of the home or building's network.
These systems can never stop working; in fact, they can't even tolerate latency issues.

We do not promise what is not ours to promise
Lutron's own whitepaper says the dimming range of an LED is set solely by the driver inside the lamp, and that the only way to know a lamp will work with a dimmer is to test it. Its LED Control Center of Excellence has tested hundreds of lamp, driver and control combinations and publishes the results.
One manufacturer, one party answerable
Light, shades and keypads run on one platform: one HomeWorks QSX system can hold up to 10,000 individually controllable outputs, and a single manufacturer answers for all of them.
The published record
Joel Spira invented the first practical solid-state dimmer in 1959, US patent 3,032,688; his papers are held at the Smithsonian Institution.
Intelligent Hembar Alignment™ — adjacent shades remain within 1/8 in (3 mm) alignment when stopped or moving. Palladiom Shading System exposed motorized shade, specification submittal P/N 085560, p. 2.
The shade drives are published at 35 dBA measured 3 ft (0.91 m) from the drive unit, a stated value rather than a ceiling. Palladiom Shading System exposed motorized shade, specification submittal P/N 085560, p. 1; the wire-free Palladiom line gives the same figure in P/N 085708, p. 1.
The two quoted sentences about the network come from Clear Connect RF Technology, P/N 367-1234 Rev E, January 2020 — pages 9 and 2.
Controlling LEDs P/N 367-2035 Rev C, p. 8 (the driver alone sets the dimming range) and p. 18 (test the pairing to be sure; hundreds of combinations tested); Application Note #487 P/N 048487 Rev A, p. 2.
For a villa or a penthouse the HomeWorks QSX platform is used — one system takes up to 10,000 switch legs, Lutron's term for the smallest controllable output. Lutron Residential and Commercial Systems Rules, specification submittal P/N 369821, p. 14, under General System Rules for HomeWorks with a QSX processor.
Lutron connects to KNX through a gateway: choosing Lutron for light and shading does not rule out an open bus in the rest of the home.
A Lutron installation follows the same five-stage engineering process as every Wonder automation project.
The range
The catalogue itself — HomeWorks QSX, RadioRA 3 and the Palladiom shading line — lives on the Lutron brand page.
