Engineered lighting design for Paris.
Architectural lighting design · Paris
Wonder designs and commissions architectural lighting for villas, penthouses, restaurants, offices and hospitality across France — five engineered layers per space, scene logic on local controllers, and a process built around the architect rather than the catalogue.

Circadian rhythm support
Light that follows the day, not the catalogue.
Tunable-white profiles tuned per room: warm at wake, neutral at performance hours, deep amber and sub-melatonin-threshold at night. The graph below is the actual curve we ship in production.
Morning
4000–5000K, rising lux. Cortisol-aligned wake.
Performance hours
5000–6500K, flat high-output for focus and natural-light replication.
Evening & night
2700K → 2200K, declining lux. Melanopic-safe so melatonin can rise.
Five engineered layers
A space is not lit with one fixture. It is composed.
Architectural, accent, task, decorative and exterior — each layer answers a specific job. A villa, a restaurant or an office only feels finished when all five layers are present and individually controllable.
Scene tuning per room
The same space, four different lives.
Every room runs four resident scenes — morning, day, evening, night — with intensity and colour temperature tuned to the activity, not the fixture. The same logic runs a villa, a restaurant service cycle or an office working day. The matrix below is a real specification template.
- Morning
- Day
- Evening
- Night
Living
- Crisp wake, blinds tracking
- Daylight balance, fixtures step back
- Cove + accent, pendants forward
- Cove only, low-glare path
Dining
- Breakfast, soft pendant
- Daylight wash, pendants off
- Pendants centred, art picked out
- Cove low, table off
Bedroom
- Gradual wake, no blue
- Curtain priority
- Bedside reading, ambient warm
- Footpath motion only
Bathroom
- Vanity full, mirror balanced
- Daylight + vanity baseline
- Spa wind-down
- Mirror toe-light only
Control logic
Manufacturer-agnostic. Cloud-independent.
We design the bus, the scene engine and the output drivers as one system. Core scenes resolve on a local controller — they keep working when the internet does not.
Control bus
Manufacturer-agnostic, building-grade, no cloud dependency for core scenes.
- Backbone for project-wide logic, sensors, keypads
- Per-fixture addressing for architectural + accent
- Where Lutron drivers are specified
Scene logic
Local scene engine — works fully without internet. Cloud is for remote access only.
- All four-key scenes resolved at the local controller
- Sunrise / sunset offsets per fixture group
- Per-room CCT and lux curves over 24h
Output layer
Driver class chosen per fixture — never one driver type forced across the project.
- Architectural cove, recessed downlights
- Garden, pool, façade colour control
- Where natural light replication matters
Specified vs. designed
The difference is not the fixture count.
Drag the slider to compare a generic single-CCT downlight grid against a Wonder lighting specification for the same room.
Single downlight grid at one CCT, no architectural intent. Faces shadow, art falls flat, the geometry of the room disappears at night.
Layered architectural cove, accent on art, decorative pendants and low-glare path lighting. Scene-tuned so each layer earns its place.
Selected work
Three projects, three lighting strategies.
Every Wonder project starts with the architecture. These three pieces show how the same five-layer method adapts to different briefs.
Lunaria Villa
Architectural cove + circadian wellness lighting
Continuous DALI-addressed cove around every primary volume, tunable-white profile that follows the family's day, scene logic on a fully local controller.
Golden Mile Penthouse
Gallery-grade accent + low-glare night navigation
Per-fixture museum optics for a private art collection, framed pendants in the dining volume, sub-2400K floor markers for melatonin-safe night navigation.
Atrium Dining — Restaurant
Six service scenes from lunch through late dinner
Pendants over each table on independent dimming, accent on the open kitchen pass, façade and signage on an astronomical clock — six commissioned scenes from bright lunch service through golden-hour transition to intimate evening.
Engineering-led process
Lighting design that starts before installation.
Wonder's lighting process starts before installation. We study the architecture, lifestyle, control requirements and emotional intent of each space — then tune the system until scenes feel natural.
Architectural brief
We read the architect's drawings, walk the site if accessible, and sit down with the client and interior designer. The output is a written lighting intent per room — not a fixture list.
Concept & layered plan
Five layers per room, scene-by-scene. Sketch elevations, lux targets, CCT ranges, fixture families. Reviewed with architect and ID before specification.
Engineering & specification
DALI/KNX topology, driver schedule, cable routing, control points, keypad layouts, per-fixture commissioning notes. Coordinated with the MEP and main contractor.
Programming
Scenes built on the local controller. Astronomical clock, motion logic, holiday and night-mode behaviour. No production scene depends on the cloud.
On-site commissioning
Every fixture set in person, room by room, at the time of day it was designed for. Adjustments made with the client present so the result is not a guess.
After-care
Documented commissioning, keypad legends, owner manual, and a relationship that does not end at handover. Scenes evolve as the space is lived in or operated.
